March 2012

What a month March has been!  We started off by meeting our cardiologist, Dr. Sam, on March 2nd.  Details of that visit were explained at the end of last month's blog so we will move on to the rest of the month.  On March 13th Joe and I met with our OBGYN, Dr. Moore in Clovis.  It was just a regular check up and an opportunity to share the news we received from Dr. Sam.  I held a baby shower for our friend Laura on March 17th which turned out to be a very fun event.  On March 23rd we had a follow up appointment with Dr. Sam to monitor the progress of our little guy's heart.  Side note--we have decided to name our little man Tyler Joseph!  We got promising news that day as the doctor informed us that the strength of Tyler's left ventricle has improved from 20% to 40%.  While this is still not "normal" we are so encouraged by the positive progression.  Joe and I celebrated the good news by going on a date on March 24th to see The Hunger Games...it was such a great movie!  Joe, Sophia, and I then left for a fun vacation on March 29th.  We flew to Atlanta and spent some time with Nana and Grandpa Benscoter!  We were also in town to share in the wedding of Joe's close friend Brent and his new wife Patty.  Joe spent most of March 30th preparing for the wedding with Brent while Sophia, Grandpa Ben, and I went to see Nana at her new school.  It was so fun getting to meet all of Nana's coworkers and see her beautiful library!  We ended the month with the very special wedding day of Brent and Patty on March 31st.  They both looked very happy and it was a very emotional and touching ceremony.  We are so excited to share the following pictures and videos with you.  We are constantly amazed by how fast our sweet angel Sophia is growing!  She is perfecting the art of running (especially running away from Mommy and Daddy!) and her vocabulary is absolutely bursting!  She has now learned to name parts of her face and copy sounds that animals make.  She is also getting very, very good at saying "no"!  In addition to all of these new developments, Sophia has cut one of her 1-year molars.  This seemed to happen over night without much fuss so we are extremely grateful and hopeful that the next 3 will be similar!
