January 2014

January 1st was an exciting day for our family since Melissa and David got engaged!  We are looking forward to their wedding which will take place in South Carolina in September.  On January 3rd we got 8.5 inches of snow!  Thankfully Joe was home to do most of the shoveling :)  On January 4th Grandma came into town to take care of Sophia and Tyler for a few days.  Joe and I flew to California on January 5th where Evan was waiting to pick us up from LAX.  We drove to Aunt Jan and Uncle Jim's house where we had a blast playing with all of Uncle Jim's toys (see pictures and videos below).  Cortney, Adam, Aunt Kate, Uncle Steve, and Kane were also in town so we really enjoyed catching up with everyone.  January 6th was the day that Auburn played Florida State in the National Championship game.  Joe, Evan, Tony B, and I took a train into Pasadena and we spent the morning tailgating around the Rose bowl.  The weather was gorgeous and we ran into several of our friends there.  We joined in on Tiger Walk before the game but were unable to see the football players from where we were standing because there were so many Auburn fans!  The game was very exciting and we were so proud of our team although we were so heart broken with the loss.  Maybe next year?!?  We flew back home on January 7th.

On Januray 9th our big boy Tyler turned one and a half!  Joe and I had a fun date night on January 11th.  We went to The Melting Pot in Philadelphia for dinner then went to see Brian Reagan.  He was so funny and I always enjoy a night out with my honey!  We drove up to Massachusetts the following weekend on January 18th to spend time with family and celebrate Ava and McKenzie's birthdays.  January 19th was the girls' birthday brunch and it was so wonderful.  Following the party, we stayed at Evan and Erin's house to watch the Patriots play the Broncos.  Once again the team we were cheering for lost, unfortunately.  We headed back home on January 20th.

We got more snow on January 22nd so I stayed home from work and Sophia and I baked a cake to celebrate Joe's completion of his Master's degree!  We are all so proud of him and happy that he will more free time!  Grandma and Grandpa came to visit on January 28th as they began their trek down to Florida for the winter.  Lastly, Joe left on January 30th for a week long trip to Germany and Kuwait.
